Fort Pierce Moving FAQ

The questions Fort Pierce and Treasure Coast families ask us most, answered plainly.
Price my move

Your price, in writing, same day

Tell us the rooms, flag the tight stair turns, and note where a truck can legally park — before the day is out you have a firm figure on paper, not a guess.

What you sign is what you pay

Pads, shrink wrap and tape are all built into the one number up front, so nothing gets re-added the moment the ramp comes down.

Full pack or just the fragile stuff

Kitchens go into dish barrels, closets into wardrobe cartons, and every mirror or stone top rides in a crate cut to fit it.

One lead from start to finish

Whoever measured your home runs the truck and walks the final check with you — your move never gets passed off midway.

Here’s what Treasure Coast customers want settled before they hand us a date — how our hourly pricing works, condo access on the barrier islands, licensing, coverage, and how a UW Moving day actually runs. Still stuck on something? Dial (888) 278-9005 and Marisol or Dale will talk it through with you.

Quick answers

  • Local rate: $128/hr for two movers, $182 for three, one-hour minimum
  • Coverage: $0.60/lb released value free, full-value protection on request
  • Service area: St. Lucie, Martin, and Indian River counties, plus interstate
Are you a real moving company or a booking service?
Yes — UW Moving is a fully licensed and insured, owner-run moving company based in Fort Pierce, FL; we run our own trucks and uniformed crews. No part of your move is ever handed to a broker or sold on to another carrier.
How is a local move priced?
By the hour — $128 for two movers and a truck, $182 for three, with a one-hour minimum. Pads, dollies, shrink-wrap, and wardrobe boxes are included at no extra charge.
Can you handle a condo on Hutchinson Island or a downtown building?
Yes. Xavier's crew reserves the freight elevator, files the certificate of insurance your association needs, and manages the long beach-building carries.
Do you move out of state?
We do. Damon leads long-distance runs up I-95 and Florida's Turnpike under our Florida intrastate authority plus US DOT and MC authority, with one crew from pickup to delivery.
What happens to my things if my closing is delayed?
We hold them in short-term storage, padded and secured, then redeliver once you have the keys — a common need here on the coast.
How are my belongings covered if something is damaged?
Every load carries $0.60 per pound in released-value protection for free, with full-value coverage available on request and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. Interstate claims stay open nine months after delivery.
How do you deal with salt air and summer humidity?
We shrink-wrap upholstery and electronics against the moisture and keep wood furniture padded and off damp surfaces — standard on every Treasure Coast move.
How early should I lock in my moving date?
A week or two works most of the year. Snowbird season and month-end weekends book up first, so reach out early if your date is set.

How Your Move Goes With Us

  1. 1

A free quote in about ten minutes

On our end: Give us the room count, tell us whether it’s stairs or an elevator, and show us where a truck can legally park — a written price comes straight back.

Where you help: Keep your building’s COI rules and elevator windows handy; that’s the detail that turns a rough guess into an exact number.

  2. 2

We nail down your date and building access

On our end: The freight-elevator slot and a clear length of curb both get arranged with building management and the city well beforehand, so on the day the truck backs up to your entrance instead of sitting half a street away.

Where you help: Settle the two dates — out of the old place, into the new one — and give us whichever one leaves less wiggle room.

  3. 3

    Everything gets wrapped and padded

On our end: Blankets cover every piece, upholstery is shrink-wrapped, and bed frames and table legs come apart into bags tagged with their own hardware.

Where you help: Mark each carton with the room it’s headed to, and keep papers, keys and small valuables with you, not on the truck.

  4. 4

Load out, drive, unload and final walk-through

On our end: Whoever loads your things is the same team that carries them back in at the other end — each piece set down where you direct, bed frames reassembled, and every scrap of used packing hauled off when we go.

Where you help: Walk the place with the crew lead before the truck pulls off, while anything still not right costs you nothing to fix.

Not sure what the move will run?

Send us a few details and a written quote reaches your inbox by day’s end — based on your home, the date you want and every piece riding the truck. It costs nothing; it’s simply a firm figure to plan around.

  • Fully insured, with Florida intrastate authority alongside US DOT & MC credentials for the interstate runs
  • The one written figure is yours to sign off on before anything gets loaded
  • Every mover is uniformed, on our own books, and rides in our own trucks
